Customer Reviews and Testimonials

Why you need reviews, how to get reviews and what to do with them.

Review Management

Have you noticed that more and more companies are collecting and promoting the customer reviews?

There is a good reason for this.

Recent studies into consumer behaviour have shown that reviews are a MAJOR factor in a potential customers buying process.

If you are wondering Why you should be getting reviews from your customers, here are a few of the reasons..

  • 84% of people trust online reviews as much as a personal recommendation
  • 90% of consumers used the internet to find a local business in the last year, with 33% looking every day
  • 82% of consumers read online reviews for local businesses, with 52% of 18-54-year-olds saying they ‘always’ read reviews
  • The average consumer reads 10 reviews before feeling able to trust a business
  • Only 53% of people would consider using a business with less than 4 stars
  • The average consumer spends 13 minutes and 45 seconds reading reviews before making a decision
  • Among consumers that read reviews, 97% read businesses’ responses to reviews
  • 67% of consumers have now been asked to leave a review for a local business - with 24% of these being offered a discount, gift or cash in return.

Collecting High Quality Reviews and Testimonials used to be a time sucking game of emailing, follow-up and fingers crossed.

With a fully managed system from BR1 Web Design, the whole process is done for you using systems designed to get you more reviews and feedback and automatically display them on your website to help converting visitors to more new customers while building customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Lets talk about getting more reviews ...

How to get more reviews with our Done For You solution.

Step 1 - Customer Details

  • You provide your customer details in a private web page form or upload a spreadsheet of details to our secure file area.
  • This can be done daily, weekly or any schedule you find easiest.
  • If you have a job management system, we can help with exporting the information to make this part as painless as possible.

Step 2 - Ask for the Review

  • Your customers receive a personalised email with a unique link to a web based feedback form.
  • The form is pre-completed with their information and provides the option to add their picture (from a list of social websites).
  • Your customers fills in their review and rating.

Step 3 - Display your Reviews

  • You are emailed a copy of the review.
  • The review is then added to your website widget (depending on rules your setup) such as pop-ups, a dedicated page or displayed on any page.
  • All done for you

And here is just one example of how your reviews could look on your website:

So What are the Other options for getting reviews?

There are a number of ways to get reviews, each with their own benefits and drawbacks starting with simply asking.

Unfortunately, the simpler the option appears, the less likely you are to actually get reviews and therefore the more time you waste.

To get the best chance of getting the biggest number of quality reviews you have to look at removing as many obstacles that may prevent your customer from leaving a review.

The top solution is to use a system specifically designed to help your customers to leave a review whilst also getting feedback and then displaying your top reviews on your website however there are other options.

I have written an article detailing the 6 main options for collecting reviews from your customers from simply asking for them through emailing and ending with a managed solution.

Want to collect your own reviews?

The Pros and Cons of Doing It Yourself (rather than using a Managed Service).

  • No or low cost - Excluding any systems you may use
  • Full control over every aspect of the process

  • It takes up your time that could be better spent elsewhere
  • Simplest options result in lowest number of reviews
  • More complex options get more reviews but are harder to learn and implement
  • You must be consistent in the process.
  • You have to learn how to add the reviews to your website

For what appears to be a simple process, there is a lot going on behind the scenes. Not including the technical requirements to setup a process, it takes time to implement and needs to be consistent. Stopping after a couple of months because only a handful of customers have left reviews is not only disheartening but also works against you in the long run.
